Sinus Lift

Sometimes when placing implants, a person’s sinus is “in the way” and prevents the implants from simply being placed.  While that may be an initial set back, it does not mean that implants are not possible.

The sinus lift procedure is simply that, lifting the sinus.  In many situations, the sinus can be “bumped” at the time the implant is placed.  This requires extra steps and materials, but is pretty straightforward.  in the case where there is very little bone and very large sinuses, a much more involved and phased method is used.

If you would like to replace missing teeth and have been told your sinuses present a problem, Dr Timmerman would love to help.  Call 206-241-5533!

Cost Dental Implant

When deciding on what treatment to choose, cost is usually a factor.  How much does a dental implant cost?  It is not always a straightforward answer, as the alternative cost should be considered.

The cost for a dental bridge is NOT just the fee, but also the fact that the adjacent teeth are treated as well.  Economists call this “opportunity costs” and should be considered.  In time, these teeth are subject to getting decay, breaking, needing root canal therapy and other issues.

But most relevant to a discussion on cost for dental implants are the fees associated with the dental implant.

Dental implants come in three parts, the implant body, the implant abutment and the implant supported crown.  When asking around for fees, you will be told ranges, from around $1200 to $2200 for the implant body, from around $400 to $800 for the abutment, and $1200 to $1800 for the implant supported crown.

Fees range from city to city and office to office, as the skills and materials used in each office are different.

Cadent iTero Digital Dental Impression

Dr Timmerman is excited to offer digital dental impressions by Cadent.  The iTero machine allows for impression taking WITHOUT gooey gunk.  No gagging, but the best part is the accuracy.

iTero captures the prep, emails the info, creates CAD/CAM models which are sent to the dental lab for final crown/bridge/veneer fabrication.

The accuracy is unsurpassed.  Most crowns are placed permanently in the mouth with NO adjustments.  From a patient comfort perspective, wouldn’t it be nice to come in and mere minutes later be on the road again?  All dental impression materials distort to a degree and talented labs must compensate.  With iTero, there is no need to compensate and the accuracy and fit are simply a given.

Dental Implants for dentures

It was asked recently if there was a difference between implants used for crowns or implants used to support a denture. The answer is yes! Implants for dentures are much smaller and can only be used for denture support. Often, an existing denture can be retro-fitted and stabilized with new implants!

Denture Stability From Implants

Filed under: dental implants — admin @ 2:47 pm

While we have been doing dental implants for several years, the financial barrier for some has been problematic. We now have been trained in a process that allows denture stability to a person’s existing denture for a fraction of the cost it used to be! By using ERA attachments from Sterngold, we can make loose fitting dentures VERY secure.

Here is what THEY have to say:

Sterngold’s ERA® Implant System
Are you tired of loose fitting dentures and having to deal with messy pastes, powders, and tapes to seat your denture?

Would you like to regain the comfort, security, and satisfaction that you once enjoyed? Our proven ERA® Dental Implant System will give you the ability to eat foods like corn-on-the-cob, carrots, and steak. When was the last time you picked up an apple and were able to bite right into it?

The ERA® Dental Implant system allows you to “SNAP” in your dentures.

Literally! What’s even better, your existing dentures can be retrofitted with this system which make it a real cost effective and secure solution. The ERA® Dental Implant System is brought to you by Sterngold a proven leader in restorative dental materials for over 100 years.

If you, or someone you know, have dentures that just won’t stay put, and the fee for implants has prevented you from getting a better fit, then give us a call at 206-241-5533 to learn more!
