Gum Recession Treatment

A common issue today is receding gums.  In the past, it was said someone was old when they got “long in the tooth”, meaning receding gums was a sign of aging.  As the gums recede, so does the bone and tooth loss can be a result.  Exposed root surfaces can be sensitive with no real long term alternative solution available.

Dr Timmerman offers minimally invasive treatment to put the gums BACK!  A fairly quick procedure, Dr Timmerman can create thicker tissues or cover up the receeding areas.  If you have receding gums, in one area or several, call 206-241-5533 to find out what can be done for YOU!

Implants from Nobel Biocare

Dr Timmerman only chooses materials and brands for his patients that he would use on his family. In many cases, brands DO matter. One such situation is dental implants from Nobel Biocare.

Replace Select® Tapered is the fastest growing implant on the market because it is so easy. It can be used for both one- and two-stage surgery.

If you are looking for an implant that is produced by a market leader and want a dentist that can both place AND restore your implant, call Dr Timmerman at 206-241-5533!

Seattle Full Mouth Rejuvination

Dr Timmeran gets asked frequently “what EXACTLY is a full mouth rejuvination?”

Essentially, this is a process.  The goal is to restore the entire mouth to the state it was in when the person was around age 23 (assuming everything was GREAT when they were 23).  The teeth are not worn very much, they are white, they look FABULOUS.

What does it take to get this?  It depends.

Call Dr Timmerman at 206-241-5533 to find out what can be done for YOU…

Dental Implants are more affordable than dental bridges?

When Dr Timmerman tells people this, people are shocked.  They have always been told the opposite, that bridges are what most people get, implants are for the rich and famous.  How can this be true?

There are two aspects to consider:

  1. Longevity
  2. 3rd party contribution

In a 30 year span, a dental bridge may need to be replaced 2 or 3 times (or more).  If a cavity forms  on a tooth that is holding the bridge in place, the bridge must be replaced.  Sometimes a bigger bridge is needed, as one of the supporting teeth must NOW be extracted, or is so weak from being worked on repeatedly so another tooth is used.  The 3 tooth bridge is now 4 or 5.

In that same 30 year span, the implant likely has had no issues.  Once placed, no more periodontal disease (gum disease), no cavities.  Dental implants are among the longest lasting procedures in dentistry.

If dental insurance is a factor, there may be less out of pocket than a bridge.  Consider a bridge that costs $3500, or an implant for $3500 (these fees are for illustration.  OUR fees are WAY higher…! ☺  )

If your annual benefit is $1000, there will be $2500 out of pocket for the bridge.  With an implant, one could place the implant and use $1000 in one benefit plan period, then place the abutment and crown in the next benefit period and use another $1000, meaning there is only $1500 out of pocket for the implant service.  When talking money, implants are MUCH more affordable.

When deciding on treatment, there are many things to consider.  An informed decision helps avoid buyers remorse.  If you would like to know more or discuss your treatment options, see our main site www.DrTimmerman.com or call 206-241-5533!

Esthetic Dentistry

Dr Timmerman is asked all the time for cheap esthetic or cosmetic dentistry. Honestly, nobody wants this. Dr Timmerman wants to provide care that people want and are proud of, and people want care that warrants pride.

He often talks of the “3 E’s of Dentistry”. These are esthetic, economics and efficiency. You can have 2, but not all three. If you want them to be pretty and quick, they won’t be cheap. If you want them to be cheap and efficient, they won’t be pretty. If you want them to be pretty and cheap, they won’t be efficient (quick or convenient).

We ALL want our cake and to eat it too. Sometimes, cutting corners is not a good idea. Do you want cheap brain surgery? You might not like the outcome. Same with cosmetic dentistry.

Low fees come at a premium. What corners are being cut in order to save you money? Do you want veneers created in China, where we don’t really know what they are made from? There are many cases of materials made in Asia where the results are NOT what one would want. When it comes to one’s health, is that REALLY a wise thing?

Renton Cosmetic Dentist

At the end of 2005, Dr Timmerman moved his Renton Dental practice 2 miles to a much more accessible location. The Tukwila location was more functional and more convenient, but it IS a new city and the extra stop light made the drive an extra 4 minutes for some.

The drive is worth it. With all of the modern conveniences that the new office offers those 2 miles are an afterthought. Dr Timmerman is a family dentist and can treat the entire family, not just adults seeking cosmetic enhancements.

If you are in Renton and want a family dental practice that can “offer just a little more”, call 206-241-5533

Dr Timmerman had the privilege of another course about a new implant system from Sybron.  Often when placing implants the location, quality of bone and shape of implant can make the difference between success and failure.

Implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple individual teeth, used to anchor bridges or stabilize loose dentures.  Some implant systems don’t allow future decisions, meaning if you are choosing to stabilize a denture, in the future, should you desire a bridge you could not use the existing implant.  With this system, you are free to choose in the future.

Dental Implants for dentures

It was asked recently if there was a difference between implants used for crowns or implants used to support a denture. The answer is yes! Implants for dentures are much smaller and can only be used for denture support. Often, an existing denture can be retro-fitted and stabilized with new implants!
